Shakedown ‘09

I Spent the last Saturday listening to music, eating bbq and drinking at Shakedown ‘09, a private mini-festival to celebrate six people’s 30th birthdays. Apart from the obvious hayfever and sunburn problems it was a fantastic day with some fun people and excellent music.

Plenty of stuff going on all day, I counted 3 bands, about 6 DJ, some poetry and other odds and ends.

The highlight of the afternoon was Deferred Success who played a great acousic set in the gazebo outside, if you like the idea of “Anti-Folk” check them out, they really are quite good.

In the evening the barn opened up and there was plenty of music inside. The Trans-Siberian March Band were the definate favourites of the evening, entertaining everyone with what can only be described as “A kick ass balkanic-latino-klezmeric-arabic-asiatic brass band!”

There was another band playing who were pretty good, and I feel really guilty about forgetting their name! If I remember it I’ll put it here.

There was also some cool ukulele playing, I never caught her name but was good fun sitting around a table having a bit of a sing along.

Also, Dan cooked meat on the BBQ. This was awesome.

South Korea

I’ve been putting off updating this propperly due to sheer lazyness, but might as well put something!

My whole South Korea experience was fantastic. I’ve uploaded a selection of the photos to facebook, you can check them out here.

Flights were fine, although I couldn’t sleep on the plane. They really look after you in business class, made my first long-haul fight alot more comfortable.

There is so much to say about South Korea that I can’t really do it justice by typing it here. If you wanna know more, find me and ask me

I’ve hacked in a quick bit of code to reduce some of the comment spam. It’s pretty simple, there is an extra box when you comment, just type the word that appears next to it into the box.

Hopefully will reduce the constant email harrasment this site gives me.

Hacked, again

My wordpress has been hacked several times in the last month, and I can’t for the life of me figure out why. Everyone says that version 2.7.1 dosn’t have any major security flaws, so what am I doing wrong?

Anyhoo, i’ve upgraded to the latest beta release, maybe this has some fixes in.

Two months time I get to conquer my fear of flying, traveling alone and leaving the green fields of blighty all in one epic journey to a far away land. I’m going business class as I have enough problems fitting in a cinema seat for 2 hours, let alone an economy class fight for 10+.

I’ll admit it’s a bit of an epic journey, especially as my destination is another internal flight away from the internation airport.

But hey, she’s so worth it.

So, 11 items down and £131 in the kitty, with another 8 items listed and ending within a few days. I’ve just gotta resist the temptation of spending it all on airsoft gear for the 28th.

Maybe i’ll just spend a little bit on airsoft. Just a holster. And some tactical gloves. What the fuck is tactical about a pair of gloves? When to normal gloves stop being gloves and start being tactical gloves?

Since flogging £300 quids worth of old stuff for work the other week i’ve become addicted to selling stuff on ebay. I’m hoping to raise some funds for my flight later this year and selling all my old junk seems a pretty sweet idea.

Christmas is on the way and although some stuff has happened since August i’ve been too lazy to write anything, so here’s the highlights.

Played a gig
Moved into my new flat
Went to i35
Saw Less than Jake
Started play WoW again (fail)
Watched Jack Bauer beat up some AK wielding motherfuckers

My I Hate Shit Websites post has had another comment from a complete crazy. She accuses me of abusing my spouse (lol) and my kids (double lol) and then worst of all insults my grammar. Calling me a wife beating child abuser is one thing, but challenging my mastery of the english language is crossing the line. I know she is very serious because the whole post is written in upper case. Caps lock means business!

I’ve also started dieting again (yawn) but this time i’m doing the Tesco GI diet plan. Apart from the occasional random recipe choice it’s not too bad, although it does have a worrying obsession with cottage cheese.
